THE DOUBTING LIGHT for string orchestra (1991)

The Hereford String Orchestra and their conductor Nick Fallowfield commissioned this piece, which was inspired by part of John Clare's set of poems, The Shepherd's Calendar, and which takes most of its material from the 1981 song-cycle The Hour of Magic.
