SONATA for BASSOON and PIANO (1996)
Commissioned by 'Pour Que L'esprit Vive' for the Troisieme Rencontres Musicales at L'Abbaye de La Pree, Segry, France in May 1996 and
dedicated to the director of Pour Que L'esprit Vive, Michel Christolhomme. The first performance of this substantial four-movement work
was given at La Pree by Catherine Marchese with the composer (piano). The composer is indebted to the composer Nicholas Bacri for
engineering the commission and performance at La Pree.
The work was described as being "The Sonata which Debussy would have written for bassoon".
