Commissioned for the Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam for a CD celebrating the Sail 2000 Festival in Amsterdam, this is an atmosphere-type piece, slow and sustained for strings, written with the 400th anniversary of links between Holland and Japan in mind.
