THE BERNARD STEVENS FILM-SCORE ADAPTATIONS
In the 1940's Bernard Stevens wrote music for two films, 'The Upturned Glass' and 'The Mark of Cain'.
The full scores for these were lost, as frequently happened with film scores, but sketches and snatches of piano-score remained.
At the behest of Stevens' widow, Bertha, and commissioned by the Stevens Trust, Adrian Williams reorchestrated the music and from it constructed two short concert works for full orchestra. This involved two dictation sessions at the British Film Institute in addition to the use of the sketches.

BERNARD STEVENS arr. Adrian Williams: THE UPTURNED GLASS (1994)

Perhaps a more original Stevens score than the previous one, slightly longer concert work also. Contains a wonderful Rumba.
